MAKEUP SHELF LIFE ADVICE
Before we can start playing with out makeup - it's important to know the shelf life of our products WHEN OPEN! All these dates are from when the product is open - Don't forget this!!
The shelf life can be controlled depending on how you store your products but this is a good guideline to keep. We hope this helps! xx
Mascara has a shelf life on average of three months. To minimize eye infections, never pump the wand. This allows more air to get into the tube, providing a breeding ground for germs.
Powders, bronzers and blushes have a shelf life of two years if powder based and six months if cream based.
Eye shadows are one of those makeup products that vary. Tossing out this expired makeup is dependent on the type of eye shadow used. Cream shadow last about 6 months whereas powders can last up to two years.
Powder foundation lasts roughly two years and liquid foundation shelf lives vary. Liquid foundations that come with a pump can last as long as a powder foundation, but most likely, you will finish it before the two year mark.
Lipstick has a shelf life of about two years. A change in smell is a surefire way to know that your lipstick is expired.
If properly stored nail polish can last up to two years. Texture is a dead giveaway here - older nail polish tend to be thicker and clumpier. But as long as the nail polish is stored out of direct sunlight and in a cool, dark setting it should last.
If stored correctly your fragrance should last you about three years(five if you pushing it). That is to say you don't use it up before then.
